Heiler presents a major new release with Product Manager 5.0

Monday 08. June 2009 - Flexible import functions and product information versioning

Heiler Software presents a major new release with Product Manager 5.0. The remodeled import area and versioning capabilities ensure greater usability, security and transparency in the management of product data. Heiler Product Manager is a software solution designed for central product information management and product communication in print and electronic catalogs and in online shops.

The new import functions enable you to perform calculations during data imports. This ensures a fast calculation of prices, for example. All descriptive fields are interlinked and product texts are easily merged. According to Heiko Rumpl, Head of Product Management at Heiler Software: “The new functions lend huge flexibility to the import of a wide range of data. This saves time and guarantees higher-quality data”.

The import functions also enable the integration of item data from several files in a single import step. All information relating to an import is grouped together in an import project. This provides users with a clear overview and makes it easy to repeat specific imports if necessary with the assistance of customer support.

As Rumpl explains: “The extensive import options significantly enhance the solution’s level of automation. Our key objectives in the development of this release were to boost employee productivity and improve data quality even further, and we can safely say that we’ve succeeded on both counts.”

Versioning of individual items, product groups or of entire catalogs is now possible with the latest release. Versions can be compared and changes (for example, differences in prices or product descriptions) clearly highlighted. In addition, all relevant references to images, accessories or replacement parts are logged automatically for each version. “In this way, versioning enhances transparency and traceability”, says Rumpl. He explains how data security can now be further enhanced and safeguarded through “qualified field permissions”. These enable a very precise assignment of write permissions, right down to the level of individual fields in specific languages.

Version 5.0 – which includes a central process overview and extended workflow management – is available from Heiler Software now. Its exclusive presentation to the Heiler User Group received an extremely positive response.
