Reelstands Upgrade at Aberdeen Journals, Aberdeen, Scotland
Wednesday 03. June 2009 - Aberdeen Journals will become the latest production site to benefit from Harland Simons reelstand upgrade solution, after placing an order with Harland Simon, the control system specialists.
There are seven Goss CT45s and two Goss CT50s at the site, all with original components.
The comprehensive upgrade will replace the obsolete control electronics with an industry standard PLC and also replaces the belt drive with a thyristor controlled regulator. A new interface on the reelstands will provide additional monitoring and calibration facilities. Benefits include lower splice and core waste and improved diagnostics.
Raymond McRobbie, Assistant Managing Director at the print plant said “Once we knew that Harland Simon could offer a reelstand upgrade, it was easy for us to justify the investment in terms of improved performance and quality.” Rob Watson, Sales Director for Harland Simon said, “Our standard approach has enabled us to provide a very cost-effective solution that many sites can benefit from. Were delighted to be able to provide Aberdeen Journals with this upgrade.”
Harland Simon can offer similar solutions for Goss Static Belt reelstands and those from a number of other manufacturers.
