Tetra Pak honoured for manufacturing excellence with record seven awards by renowned institute
Tuesday 02. June 2009 - Tetra Pak, the world's leading food processing and packaging solutions company, has received seven awards for manufacturing excellence by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) during its annual awards ceremony held today in Kyoto.
The Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) awards recognise plants which fulfil the demanding requirements of the JIPMs continuous improvement programme. Tetra Pak factories in Rubiera, Italy; Wrexham, UK; Kiev, Ukraine and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia received the TPMs 2008 Excellence Awards. The companys plants, in Pune, India; Gornji Milanovac; Serbia and Kunshan, China received the TPMs 2008 Consistency Awards. To date, a total of 21 Tetra Pak factories around the world have been recognised by the JIPM.
TPM aims to reduce machinery breakdowns, accidents and defects by involving all plant employees in the manufacturing process and integrating maintenance with production. The JIPM awards demonstrate recognition of adhering to best-in-class practices and commitment to continuous improvement as a world class manufacturer in terms of controlling and improving the quality, environmental impacts and costs of production.

JIPM launched the PM award system in 1964 to strengthen the improvement of enterprise constitutions and contribute to the development of industry, by promoting the modernization of plant maintenance and the development of plant maintenance technologies.
