Le Temps goes live with EidosMedia Web CMS
Tuesday 02. June 2009 - The Swiss daily has launched production of its extended news portal with the Méthode Portal ServerOne of French-speaking Switzerlands most authoritative newspapers is now online with an extended news portal based on an advanced Web CMS developed by EidosMedia.
The Geneva-based Le Temps has produced its print edition using the Méthode multiple-media platform since 2005. This platform has now been extended with the addition of the Méthode Portal Server, drawing on the same editorial workflow and content stores.
The Portal Server, the first Web CMS to be designed for the needs of news organisations, incorporates many Web 2.0 features for the automatic management of reader interaction and participation. Among those adopted by Le Temps are reader comments and feedback, most-read story charts, as well as real-time financial data, subscription management, RSS feeds and PDF and e-paper editions. Through an agreement with Agence France-Presse TV and France 24, the portal incorporates multimedia galleries driven by external image and video feeds.
“The advantage of the Portal Server is that it allows all these reader-focused features to be managed automatically from a single platform,” said Massimo Barsotti, EidosMedias VP marketing.
“Our strategic objective was to set up an integrated newsroom within Le Temps and we decided to implement the full Methode suite to sustain this effort” said Virginie Fortun, Marketing Manager at Le Temps. “The relaunch of our portal using the new CMS has brought about greater integration and the productivity benefits allow us to offer additional pure web contents as well as enhanced intra-day reactivity to our online readers.”
