Product highlights
As of 12 May, the HP Scitex FB7500 Printer will be shipping worldwide. The printer, which delivers industry-leading productivity along with high print speeds and standard three-quarter automation, is set to become a market leader in the analogue to digital ‘revolution.’
Designed to provide screen printers with an easy transition into digital printing, the HP Scitex FB7500 Printer can print 105 1.2 x 2.4m (4 x 8ft) sheets per hour (500m2/hr; 5,380 ft2/hr), delivering the highest productivity of digital flatbed printers in its price class.(1)
With several successful beta sites and installations worldwide, the printer is already making an impact on PSPs’ businesses. One of the early beta sites, Dereumaux XL of Holland is enthusiastic about the printer’s potential. “We have spent a long time looking for a digital solution to print on rigid materials,” said Marc Schoenmakers, general manager, Dereumaux XL. “Dereumaux differentiates itself from other companies by fulfilling our customers’ orders within very short production times. Now that we have installed the new HP Scitex FB7500 Printer, we can offer customers extended services including longer runs and variable data work in addition to the production of unique single items.”
Expanding offerings for industrial environments
The HP Scitex FB6100 Printer series expands HP’s customer offerings within the midrange UV platforms and technologies. The new HP Scitex FB6050 Printer is a new addition to the successful HP Scitex FB6100 Printer series, and serves as an entry-level product within this range, delivering the speed and robust performance required of industrial print environments. Providing high-quality output on a broad range of media, it enables PSPs to expand their customer offerings. The HP Scitex FB6050 Printer produces high-quality output on rigid media, while the HP Scitex FB6100 Printer converts from a flatbed to a roll-fed printer to deliver greater application versatility.
This versatile series shortens turnaround times and increases productivity with production print speeds of up to 100 m²/hr (1,070 ft²/hr), fast-drying UV inks and a print resolution of up to 1,270 x 800dpi on a broad range of media, including ceramic tiles, glass or acrylic boards, wooden doors and acoustic ceiling tiles. Robust, reliable and with a heavy-duty frame, the HP Scitex FB6100 Printer series is designed for production environments that operate 24/7.
“FESPA Digital 2009 is a milestone and celebration for HP and for the analogue to digital evolution of the graphic arts industry. The HP portfolio is our biggest ever; cost effectively delivering a wide range of printing applications that historically resided in the analogue world,” said Santiago Morera, vice president and general manager of large format printing business for the HP Imaging and Printing Group at HP. “The digital revolution will continue to demonstrate its advantages over conventional production in cost, productivity and environmental impact.”
Advanced large format applications
With brand owners demanding more localised, short-term campaigns, PSPs are looking to provide customers with more cost effective solutions. In response to this need HP is demonstrating its optimised substrates, in addition to advanced technology solutions from partners, which enable PSPs printing billboards be more productive and efficient.
HP Scitex XP2300 Printer was developed especially for outdoor signage’s new demands. The HP Scitex XP2300, a 3m UV printer, can print on a wide range of substrates including on inexpensive media such as polyethylene, uncoated PVC, self-adhesive vinyl, mesh, woven polyethylene, and textiles that can be mounted immediately without the need for drying.
PSPs who are under time constraints are now able to take advantage of production efficiencies not offered with traditional substrates, and which also meet increasing pressure from advertising agencies for more environmentally responsible production.
FESPA Digital Print Awards
The winning entries of the FESPA Digital Print Awards, demonstrate how PSPs leverage the possibilities that only digital offers. HP has continued its support of FESPA Digital Print Awards for the third year running. The award winners gallery can be seen near the HP stand in the RAI for the duration of the show.
“The entries for the competition were highly innovative this year, and we were pleased to see that several HP customers won awards for their creative applications,” said François Martin, marketing director, Graphic Solutions Business, EMEA, HP Stiefel Digitalprint was the Platinum Winner and Print & Display was the runner-up in the Fine Art category, while other HP customers, Dereumaux XL, Print & Display and Presentation creative and production house, all were commended in their categories, having entered exceptional examples of digital printing.”
