Tuesday 14. April 2009 - Expansion of Range of Supported Media with Introduction of New Ink

The Media And Precision Technology Company (President: Kyohei Fujisawa) of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) has introduced a new ink for the Truepress Jet650UV industrial UV inkjet printing system that can be used for printing on a variety of media and has the flexibility to with- stand three-dimensional molding after printing. The company intends a full-scale launch of the Truepress Jet650UV in overseas markets.

In recent years, the industrial printing industry, where screen printing and other conventional printing methods predominate, has been faced with the challenges of providing variable small-lot printing, fast turn- around, cost reductions, inventory-less production, and gradation printing, which requires large quantities of printing plates. In order to provide solutions for these issues, the market is rapidly shifting towards POD (Print on Demand) and inkjet technology. This shift in demand means that the development of machinery and inks capable of meeting these needs has become an urgent task facing printing machinery manufacturers.

In acknowledgement of these trends, Screen has developed the Truepress Jet650UV inkjet printing system. The new system provides all the benefits of plate-less gradation printing offered by UV inkjet technology combined with precise, high-definition imaging performance that satisfies user needs, and highly-customizable product specifications. It also provides a solution to variable, low-volume production and fast turnaround, issues that are currently challenging the industrial printing industry. Since its press release in the spring of 2007, the Truepress Jet650UV has made a name for itself as an environmentally-friendly product in the commercial production of industrial parts, particularly in printing applications for automobile gauges used in transportation equipment overseas.

The new ink, which boasts excellent stretchability and adhesion to the substrate, allows high-precision printing on a wide variety of media, now including ABS resin, acrylic, PVC, and PET in addition to polycar- bonate, while being flexible enough to withstand three-dimensional molding after printing. It is also available in a wide range of color choices. Designed from the start with safety in mind, the Truepress Jet650UV acquired the American UL certification in November 2008. It has also obtained the European CE marking certification.

With the introduction of the new ink and acquisition of safety standard certification for the Truepress Jet650UV, Screen will begin full-scale entry into overseas markets. The Truepress Jet650UV will be shown at FESPA Digital Printing Europe 2009, the world’s largest screen printing equipment exhibition, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands from May 12 to 14, and at NPE2009, the international plastics showcase, in Chicago, USA from June 22 to 26.
