Ricoh Announces Comsquared Products Pass Compatibility Testing
Wednesday 08. April 2009 - Solutions Boost Document Management Efficiency With Easy Capture, Archive and Retrieval Processes
Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, today announced that two of Comsquared products — ImageDirector(TM) and YourSecurePoint(TM) (YSP) — passed Ricoh Developer Program(TM) (RiDP(TM)) compatibility testing. These solutions, which are compatible with Ricoh multifunction products (MFPs), simplify a company’s document management system by easily capturing, archiving and retrieving documents. Comsquared is a Premier Plus member of RiDP.
Comsquared capitalized on their Premier Plus membership in the Ricoh Developer Program by using Java based SDK’s and unlimited developer support to create the ImageDirector and YSP products. Through Ricoh’s advanced Embedded Software Architecture (ESA) platform, developers have been able to increase customers’ productivity while reducing their cost of ownership by tapping into Ricoh’s open architecture. Nearly all of Ricoh’s MFP and printer lines manufactured after the fall of 2004 have the potential to run ESA. Legacy and new customers have the ability to harness the power within those devices by adding Ricoh developed and third party developer solutions.
ImageDirector is a complete document imaging solution that is embedded into Ricoh MFPs to electronically classify, index, store and retrieve documents. Easy-to-use, ImageDirector is managed from the Ricoh MFP’s intuitive, touch-screen control panel. All scanned documents are instantly archived with index identifiers for easy web-based retrieval. In addition, ImageDirector uses Active Directory configurations for user based authentication and audit trail accessibilities to further secure documents. A major differentiator of ImageDirector is the ability for users to scan numerous documents into the MFP, and then go back to their desk to index, freeing up the MFP for other users.
In addition to ImageDirector, YSP provides an alternate configuration for storing images and their associated data at a secure, off-site facility. YSP provides companies with the option of a low cost solution, requiring no large capital investment, no costly upgrades and redundancy in the case of disaster recovery. Once a customer scans their documents at their Ricoh MFP, it is processed and indexed on-site and archived off-site automatically once scanning is complete. Users can access their content via their desktop’s current web browser after entering a unique user ID and password. A major benefit of YSP is the ability for 24/7 instant access to search for and retrieve records easily from any location with an internet connection. To enhance security, all transmissions to and from the web-based document management servers employs Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted data transmissions.
“We are happy that both ImageDirector and YourSecurePoint have passed Ricoh’s thorough testing process,” said Mike Benson, director of marketing and channel operations, Comsquared. “As a Premier Plus member of RiDP, we continually strive to introduce new solutions into Ricoh’s offerings, and with the introduction of these products we meet the growing customer need for efficient document management processes.”
The RiDP program is open to independent software vendors, Ricoh Major-Strategic Accounts, and colleges and universities. Members have access to the support, tools and services needed to integrate new or existing solutions with Ricoh hardware and software products.
“We are pleased to add ImageDirector and YourSecurePoint to Ricoh’s robust suite of solutions built on the Embedded Software Architecture platform,” said Mark Minshull, vice president and chief technology officer, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “These document management additions are cost-effective, and also help to promote our environmental initiative by allowing our customers to easily streamline processes and manage electronic content.”
