Océ embedded color innovations ensure maximum productivity and accuracy
Tuesday 07. April 2009 - New levels of processing performance, color functionality and print quality
Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced new Embedded Color Innovations designed for the demands of high-speed production color printing incorporated in all printers. The enhancements help customers achieve maximum processing performance, throughput and quality at the highest output levels.
Color is in demand like never before for direct mail, transaction and other high-volume, personalized communications. Océ SRA controller has been expanded with innovative embedded color functionality to increase the potential of high-speed digital color printers. Users gain capabilities not previously available for engines at this level. Graphic arts, direct mail and transaction applications benefit from processing improvements and quality assurance. Enhanced color capabilities include closed loop color control; built-in color management using ICC profiles, device-link profiles, and rendering intent; and full color AFP support.
“Océ expertise in controller technology has long contributed to our ongoing leadership in the continuous feed market. Océ has also led with major breakthroughs in high-speed continuous feed color. With this latest innovations, we focus on the needs of high-speed color printing operations. This ensures customers in graphic arts, transaction and direct mail production can drive peak performance and quality from their investments,”
Streamlined communication and automation optimize performance
Direct marketers are taking advantage of communications that combine variable content with high-quality digital color. However, the resulting print files can contain many times more information than typical of less complex applications.
To solve this problem and help users achieve fast processing even with the most complex color applications, Océ uses RPO (rasterized page objects). RPO´s are rasterized once and stored on the printer. Then they are called as bit map during printing. This improves the use of recurring images, signatures and logos for full color direct mail campaigns and other applications. With this embedded color innovation, print production can process up to 3,000 images a minute. Graphic Arts professionals and other users benefit from better print performance for multiple copy and short run production of books, manuals and other complex jobs. Thus production print operations using Océ ODDA design software and Océ PRISMAproduction workflow software for example can run color jobs with maximum productivity.
Speed and processing power for PDF files
Color is becoming increasingly important for direct mail, transaction and other high-volume, personalized communications. The new Océ controller with its embedded innovations assures optimal throughput of complex full color PDF files for graphic arts, direct mail and transaction applications on Océ JetStream, Océ ColorStream and Océ VarioStream 9000 systems.
Support for Adobe PDF Print Engine 2, a native PDF RIP, guarantees complete compatibility and faster RIPping of complex full color PDF data streams. Additionally the ability of the SRA controller to handle more PDF pages within a single container leads to smaller file sizes and faster transfer to the controller. Graphic Arts users achieve faster workflow for complex full color PDF files for books, collateral and highly variable mailings. Direct mail operations and others benefit from reliable, accurate color production for logo printing and other images requiring specific color standards.
Full color production for AFP data streams
Océ is a leader in providing AFP workflow environments, and with support of full color AFP data streams, Océ controller technology now enables also AFP-based operations for high-value, colorful communication. The result is consistent color reliable reproduction across different devices. The AFP standard is importantfor TransPromo applications and other high-variable documents like bills, statements and policies.
The new full color AFP support is available in accordance with the latest specifications set by the AFP Consortium. Océ VarioStream 8000 systems use the same AFP standards, giving the flexibility of running the same AFP applications on those systems without modification. This benefits mixed print environments using a combination of Océ continuous feed equipment. The single standards-based workflow and controller architecture encourage productivity with identical functionality for the entire Océ continuous feed portfolio.
Enhanced print quality for high-speed output
The latest generation of Océ controller technology uses optimized screening sets to ensure consistent output quality and stable halftones for the Océ ColorStream models. Optimized toner coverage produces greater printing efficiency, as it reduces toner consumption along with cost. Additionally, on high-speed Océ VarioStream 9500/9600/9700 models the high quality multilevel printing option is also supported with the new controller. Therefore print professionals can use one system for more opportunities in Graphic Arts, direct mail and high-speed transactional printing.
Late binding choices for greater flexibility
More flexible production capabilities are possible through the ability to make binding workflow decisions later in the process. Controller intelligence allows late binding alternatives for greater flexibility, resource utilization, load balancing and device independence.
