Océ PRISMAproduction server integrates pre-flight and make ready for color workflow
Monday 06. April 2009 - Océ first to offer integrated pre-flight and color make-ready for AFP
Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced a new version (4.02) of Océ PRISMAproduction server with fully integrated pre-flight and color make ready tools to help users streamline complex color workflow. Among many other improvements is the worlds first fully integrated pre-flight and color make-ready for AFP applications.
Océ PRISMAproduction Server – a leading workflow platform for print production – is a high performance output management system for both transaction and Graphic Arts environments. The new Version 4.02 helps print professionals and others better manage the complexities of new full color digital workflows.
“Customers around the world use Océ PRISMAproduction as a converged platform for mid- to very high-volume transaction and publishing applications,” said Crit Driessen, Vice President Marketing and Strategy Océ Production Printing. “The powerful architecture handles a broad spectrum of applications and an unmatched range of monochrome and full color printing systems. As color becomes increasingly important to our customers, weve made sure they have the resources they need for these new opportunities with the latest version of Océ PRISMAproduction server.”
First with fully integrated AFP pre-flight and color make-ready
AFP support is important for transpromo communications and other high-value variable documents like bills, statements and policies, and Océ supports AFP data streams through Océ PRISMAproduction server. Now Océ is the first vendor to offer fully integrated pre-flight and color make-ready capabilities for AFP applications. Customers who have standardized on AFP data streams benefit from unprecedented efficiency gains and reduce the time needed to bring new applications into production.
The PDF format is de facto standard in production environments. With the new integrated pre-flight and color make-ready tools, users can ensure that AFP and PDF print jobs are syntactically correct and contain all necessary resources like fonts and overlays.
With the new release, Océ also becomes the first vendor to offer the ability to change a color inside an AFP print job to match the output devices capabilities. This makes it easier to make changes to applications without cumbersome reprogramming and extra development time. Users can manipulate print files for best performance through techniques such as resizing the image resolution. Print jobs can be optimized to run on Océ full color devices at maximum speed, and in-depth job reports provide valuable feedback.
New tools to streamline production processes
In addition to its new color capabilities, Océ PRISMAproduction Version 4.02 contains improvements to streamline processes and boost productivity in high-value color workflow. The result of pre-flight and make-ready steps can be easily checked with a new, integrated AFP viewer. Users can ensure that the information placement and content together with the chosen print settings are correct before printing. In addition, operators can easily identify the correct job to be printed directly from the spool queue instead of wasting time setting up printers for a sample print.
The integrated Navigation & Reprint option lets users easily move through indexed print jobs for quick reprinting of single mail pieces. The new Resource Preparer manages AFP color resources as defined by AFP Color Consortium standards. This helps users achieve the appropriate results without requiring specialized AFP or color knowledge at all staffing levels.
