CANON U.S.A. UNVEILS THE NEW imageFORMULA ScanFront 220e/220eP DURING AIIM ON DEMAND 2009
Wednesday 01. April 2009 - New Network Scanners Are The Latest Additions to Canon's Award-Winning Line Of Scanning Solutions
Taking document distribution to the next level, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging and office solutions, today introduced the new imageFORMULA ScanFront 220e/220eP Compact Network Scanners at AIIM On Demand (Booth #1701). The ScanFront 220e/220eP Compact Network Scanners deliver state-of-the-art image capture and intuitive document sharing through seamless integration with existing networks, workflows and applications. Building upon the successful imageFORMULA ScanFront 220 and ScanFront 220P models, the new ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners are powered by eCopy ShareScan Essentials v4.5, an advanced document imaging software platform that enables scanned images to be used for network distribution, as well as in applications such as document management, cost recovery, e-mail, fax server and information management.
“By embedding the eCopy ShareScan software into the new ScanFront 220e/220eP models, Canon will deliver the flexibility, reliability and durability of our network scanners to an expanded set of customers,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “With the intuitive document sharing, ease-of-use and enhanced security capabilities of these new models, the ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners are designed to become a critical element of distributed capture solutions.”
The Canon ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners feature a large 8.5-inch color LCD touch screen display that requires minimal operator training, allows users to easily navigate functions and preview scanned images prior to distribution. These new models are capable of capturing high-quality color, grayscale, and black-and-white images, at top scanning speeds of up-to-24 pages-per-minute (ppm) and 26 images-per-minute (ipm)*, and can reliably handle a wide variety of document types.
To ease integration into existing networks, business workflows, and network applications and services, there are a variety of “connectors” that provide links between the Canon ScanFront 220e/220eP network scanners and various software applications including:
Standard Bundled Connectors: Provides general sending functions, including scan-to-printer, and are built into the ShareScan Services Manager.
eCopy Quick Connect: Bundled with the scanners, this connector automates business workflows with sophisticated sending functions.
Optional Add-On Connectors: Sold separately, these are for integration with applications such as Microsoft SharePoint and Captaris RightFax.
In addition, software bundled with the Canon ScanFront 220e/220eP network scanners includes:
eCopy Desktop: Enables users to create, edit, retrieve and distribute PDF files through document scanning without complex software applications.
eCopy ShareScan Services Manager: For configuration and management of imaging and document services.
eCopy ShareScan Administration Console: For configuration, management, activation, and monitoring of multiple ShareScan Services Managers, Connectors and ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners using the familiar Microsoft Management Console.
The ScanFront 220e/eP scanners are scalable solutions that are easy to deploy, manage and use. These scanners simply plug directly into any Ethernet network and system administrators can remotely manage and configure multiple ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners and their Connectors from a central location using the bundled ShareScan Administration Console software.
The Canon ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners can help enhance security by requiring login and user authentication, and can create audit trails. Since the ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners contain no hard disk or optical storage, no sensitive data resides in the scanners. The ScanFront 220eP scanner also offers a fingerprint reader for user authentication at the device level, providing additional access control. As stand-alone devices that connect directly to the network, the ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners eliminate the need for some PCs in the enterprise when compared with more traditional scanner environments.
The Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners can help lower total cost of ownership (TCO) through reduced requirements for hardware, workspace, energy and IT administration. As easy-to-use devices, the ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners are well-suited for use in small and medium-sized business, and large enterprises alike.
The Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront 220e/220eP scanners will be available by the end of April through authorized Canon U.S.A Dealers / Resellers at a Manufacturers Suggest Retail Price (MSRP) of $2,995 for ScanFront 220e, and $3,195 for ScanFront 220eP scanner.
