Océ ColorStream 9000 family extends portfolio of high-volume color solutions

Customers gain more choices for greater color flexibility and future growth

Tuesday 31. March 2009 - Customers gain more choices for greater color flexibility and future growth

Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced the latest addition to the Océ ColorStream series — the new Océ ColorStream 9000 family for full-color, toner-based printing. The continuous feed Océ ColorStream 9000 systems offer maximum flexibility and productivity for transaction, transpromo and direct mail applications that are critical communications for a variety of industries. Customers can launch their full-color capabilities with a cost-effective investment in an Océ ColorStream 9000 system and upgrade to even higher print quality with the Océ ColorStream 10000 model when their business requires it. With the Océ ColorStream 9000 Océ expands its offering within the transpromo market.

Color quality, high productivity

The Océ ColorStream 9000 family provides good color quality and high productivity for transaction and direct mail applications. The Océ ColorStream 10000 system targets customers in graphic arts and certain direct mail segments with the highest quality requirements. This higher quality is achieved by using dot modulation.

This latest announcement consolidates Océ full-color toner-based offerings under the Océ ColorStream umbrella, while refocusing the Océ VarioStream 9000 continuous feed engines on high-speed black and white and CustomTone spot color productivity.

“Up to now, our portfolio consisted of two product lines offering full color, but targeting different market segments. The Océ VarioStream 9000 series was designed mainly for transactional applications, with the Océ ColorStream 10000 full color system focused on graphic arts. The introduction of the Océ ColorStream 9000 series and the focus of the Océ VarioStream family on high-speed black and white output will help customers identify the Océ solution that best meets their current needs and position for future requirements,” said Crit Driessen, Vice President Marketing and Strategy, SBU Production Printing.

Five million full-color A4 dize images a month

Demonstrating Océ digital color leadership, the 168 A4 images per minute (ipm) Océ ColorStream systems can power through over five million full-color, A4-size images a month. The duty cycle goes even higher with monochrome jobs at 800 A4 ipm and jobs that mix color and monochrome pages, providing the flexibility customers require. With the introduction of the 5th color station to the Océ ColorStream 9000 customers can also use one additional spot color next to full-color. With dynamic pricing, Océ ColorStream systems print color at its appropriate cost and monochrome output at black and white speeds and costs. The black-to-full-color digital printer can change speeds and costs automatically, on demand, per application, and within an application. As a result, customers can take advantage of the Océ Job Appropriate Color approach and choose the configuration and output quality best suited to their business need.

The Océ ColorStream 9000 family includes these models:

Océ ColorStream 9410: 1/1 printing
Océ ColorStream 9420: 2/2 printing
Océ ColorStream 9430: 3/3 printing

All models are field-upgradable not only across the Océ ColorStream 9000 family, but also to an Océ ColorStream 10000 system. The Océ ColorStream 9000 models are available since February 2009, and come ready for the full color upgrade when customers need to expand their color capabilities.
