Océ ODDA 5.3 unrivaled capabilities for variable document creation
Wednesday 18. March 2009 - Latest design software includes re-engineering, HTML and color tools
Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, announced a new release of Océ Document Designer Advanced (ODDA) software version 5.3 ODDA is a single platform for comprehensive data input, data handling, design, composition and output.
“In todays tough economic times, marketers need to be very creative to efficiently communicate with their customers across a multitude of different output channels,” said Crit Driessen, Vice President Marketing and Strategy. “Aside of valuable new features which enhance productivity and contribute to cost-efficient production, the new ODDA release 5.3 provides an enhanced environment for efficient communications. Our customers value that Océ applies innovations of its own and partners to provide leading products for the high productive print market”.
The new release includes more tools for creating variable communications for personalized marketing, transactional, transpromo and on-demand applications. Version 5.3 lets users more easily re-engineer spooled print files. Print professionals often need to modify spooled print files without impacting the original application. Adding bar codes for post-processing, selectively removing content or changing the impositioning scheme are some of the typical re-engineering tasks that can now be performed very efficiently.
A faster, more transparent process for customers
While previous ODDA releases supported native data streams, release 5.3 goes further with a well-defined user interface for easily defining data extraction areas. Users can clearly visualize data extraction areas, which makes re-engineering of legacy applications a faster, more transparent process. Supported data streams include AFP, PDF, PostScript and TNO.
For pre-press and print professionals, accurate and sustainable color throughout the whole workflow is mandatory. ODDA Version 5.3 integrates with third party color spectrophotometers to help customers maintain proper color levels. Spectrophotometers measure and analyze the complete color spectrum using precision optics and calibrated light sources. ODDA Version 5.3 captures color information from an XRite color spectrophotometer, which calculates color settings directly from a live print sample. The color information is then imported into ODDA and made available for use in the document layout.
Better support for multi-channel communications
Print communications are increasingly complemented by parallel electronic communications such as Personalized URLs (PURLs) and emails. The new ODDA release provides an enhanced HTML output engine for better support of multi-channel communications. Any design generated within ODDA, including data-driven graphics, data-driven images, fonts and background elements can be electronically displayed. The new HTML output is ideal for applications displayed via a web browser such as electronic bill presentment and payment information. For documents destined for email, ODDA still provides the original HTML output engine to guarantee the correct display.
