EGM Produces Photo-quality POP/POS Graphics with HP Designjet L65500 Printer
Friday 13. March 2009 - HP today announced that Laboratoris Color EGM, of Barcelona, Spain, has invested in an HP Designjet L65500 Printer for high-speed, high-quality printing across a range of indoor and outdoor applications with photographic quality.
The HP Designjet L65500 Printer uses the innovative HP Latex Inks and HP Wide Scan Printing Technology that enable high productivity while printing with the environment in mind.
Established in 1971 by Enric Galve and Joaquin Canal, as a traditional photographic laboratory, EGM is now a digital photographic service provider offering its customers the latest in interior and exterior digital photographic reproduction for a full-range of demanding applications, ranging from point-of-purchase displays, exhibition and vehicle graphics to fine art reproductions and fashion prints.
“We operate in an extremely competitive environment and wanted to employ the latest and most effective technology from HP that would set us apart from our competitors and provide us with very easy maintenance to ensure maximum uptime”, said Galve, managing director, EGM. “The HP Designjet L65500 Printer was the solution that offered us the widest range of long-term benefits for both us and our customers. As they are water-based and odourless,(1) HP Latex Inks have the added advantage of reducing our environmental impact and in so doing we can now offer printing solutions to a range of customers that we could not previously service including the medical and food industries.”
Specialising in art gallery reproductions for well-known artists, and with a wealth of knowledge in providing technical advice to its customers, EGM is driven by the need to provide exceptional customer service. Since the installation of the printer in November 2008, EGM has completed a number of jobs including a campaign for a cosmetics brand that was used in several stores and consisted of 200 copies each of five different cosmetic product reproductions printed on vinyl, framed and hung as art gallery images.
“The customer wanted a photographic like result so we worked hard to establish the colour profiles and they were very happy that the end product could not be differentiated from the original photography. We are extremely impressed by the results and diversity of products we are able to produce. Ten percent of our output is currently on the HP Designjet L65500 and we see this rising to 30 percent within 12 months. When we compare the print from the HP machine with print from other technologies it is clear that the HP Designjet L65500 produces far superior images and it is most certainly more productive.”
An HP customer since 1993, EGM now employs 52 people at its headquarters in Barcelona.
