Monday 09. March 2009 - § Hoje em Dia now live with Atex content and asset management solutions Hermes10 and Anthology § The newspaper is now moving ahead with digital content distribution, implementing the first installation of Atexs web content management solution Polopoly in Latin America
Atex, the worlds largest and longest serving provider of print and digital solutions for media companies, announces that Hoje em Dia, a daily newspaper based in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), has chosen Atexs content management solutions Hermes10 and Polopoly to improve the integration and productivity of both print and digital workflows within the company.
The selection of the new content management system followed intensive collaboration between the Publishers editorial staff and the Atex team. Mr. Carlos Lindenberg, Editorial Director, who drove the entire process together with the IT Manager Mr. Luiz Henrique Aquino Campos and the newsroom secretary Mrs. Maria Eugenia Lages, stated:”We chose Atex and its solutions for our content management systems for many reasons. One of them is the high flexibility of Hermes in accommodating any workflow and organizational requirement. This system allows people to work simultaneously, improving quality and saving time”.
The implementation of the project started at the end of June 2008 and the change-over has been completed earlier than scheduled. The main goals of the project that have been achieved were: to allow the editor to be as independent as possible, to ease the creation of pages, to reduce graphical mistakes, to improve quality, to shorten newsroom deadlines.
“Considering we were using very old systems and with many deficiencies, we opted for swapping all the newspaper systems in one shot” said Maria Eugenia Lages, newsroom secretary at Hoje em Dia. “After some initial trouble and resistance, it didnt take long for the real benefits to shine through. Any transition is painful, especially when it means alterations in functions and responsibilities. But now that we are fully operational, I dont think anybody here is missing the old system”.
Luiz Henrique Aquino Campos, Hoje em Dia IT Manager added: “After the initial adjustment period, an obvious thing in an implementation of this size, we can consider the project as a big success. We reached our objectives before the deadlines that were initially set and within budget. We are very satisfied and more and more convinced that we made the right decision”.
Hoje em Dia is also the first newspaper in Brazil to acquire Atex Polopoly; the system makes it easy for Hoje em Dia to handle all their digital content and enhances their ability to deliver on their multi-channel publishing requirements.
“We are very happy of having satisfied the needs of our customer” – said Alexandre Carvalho, Managing Director Atex Latin America – “We are very excited about this first installation of Polopoly Web Content Management system in Latin America and I hope many others will follow in the future”.
