Ricoh Showcases Security-Enabled Multifunction Products Certified by the Marine Corps and Navy at the West 2009 Conference

Thursday 12. February 2009 - Ricoh Products and Solutions Will Be On Display at Booth #649

Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, is displaying its line of security-enabled multifunction products (MFP) at the Western Conference and Exposition (West 2009), the largest state-of-the-art defense and technology exposition on the West Coast. Co-sponsored by AFCEA International and the U.S. Naval Institute, West 2009 features exhibits from more than 400 technology leaders and discussions by leading military experts. The conference takes place at the San Diego Convention Center from February 11-13.

Ricoh is showcasing its line of MFPs certified to maintain the high level of security required by the military branches and U.S. government. Several Ricoh MFPs including the Aficio MP2550, MP3350, MP4000, MP5000, MP C6000 and MP C7500 models are approved for connection to the Navy Marine Corps Internet (NCMI). Features such as DataOverwrite Security, which overwrites latent information on the hard drive after every copy, print and scan job, help users mitigate security breaches. Users are also required to be authenticated through a log-in/log-out process to ensure only pre-approved access to the machines.

As the government moves to operate more efficiently, features such as scan-to-file will help automate filing processes and make it easier than ever to manage, organize and distribute data. This also cuts down on paper usage, which complies with the government and military’s efforts implement sustainable practices. The approved Ricoh products also help meet this goal with energy saving options, such as Quick Start-up technology and a sleep mode to power down during periods of non-use.

“With the certified Ricoh products, all branches of the military and government can streamline administrative processes without sacrificing security and confidentiality,” said Zak Karasoulas, government account executive, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “While our MFPs have helped businesses run more effectively for some time now, our security technologies and certification now enable Ricoh products and solutions to help the military operate more efficiently as well.”

West 2009 is the largest event on the West Coast for communications, electronics, intelligence, information systems, imaging, military weapon systems, aviation, shipbuilding, and more. With this year’s theme of “Defense: Reset – Redesign – or Reinvent?” West 2009 will feature leading military experts and analysts addressing various topics related to national defense including force structure, cyber challenges, leadership, Navy shipbuilding and much more.

The Ricoh products are located in booth #649.
