German Court Confirms Decision: Q.I. Press Controls Infringes QuadTech Patent
Friday 06. February 2009 - QuadTech, the worldwide leader and innovator of press control technology, has won an appeal upholding its injunction against Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC) for infringing QuadTechs German patent covering register control technology.
The Court of Appeals released its decision on December 29, 2008, upholding the decision that QIPC may not market or otherwise sell its mRC (register control system) in Germany. QIPC has accepted this judgment by the Court.
QuadTechs rights in the German part of European patent EP 0-598-490 on register control technology date back to 1992. The company holds patents for the same technology in a number of countries, including the United States.
According to company President Karl Fritchen, QuadTech sought the injunction to prevent unauthorized use of technology that QuadTech has invested substantial time and money to develop and protect. “We are extremely pleased that the Court of Appeals ruled in QuadTechs favor, agreeing that Q.I. Press Controls was infringing QuadTechs intellectual property,” he said.
