Ortek specifies ink cartridges for new five-colour
Thursday 05. February 2009 - Ortek Colour Printers has taken an alpha.d dampening system and four ink.line units for the process units of its latest Komori LS 529 five-colour press. Tins are still used for special colours.
Craig Morris, managing director of Ortek, says: “We first put ink.line cartridges on our ten-colour but we extended it to the last five-colour and now this one because we want symmetry in the press room, a single standard across all equipment.
“Ink.line cartridges increase efficiency, are tidier and reduce ink waste. The operators are used to them.”
The quality commercial printer based in Walsall offers a quality commercial print service with both litho and digital printing equipment running 24 hours a day, five days a week with overtime when required.
Peter Benton, operations manager at technotrans, says: “There has never been a better time to consider optimising inking by adopting more automated equipment. Its a great way to get more out of existing technology and safeguard margins. Cost-savings can be made by reducing ink waste improving set up times and contributing to a reduction in on press intervention.”
technotrans supplies a broad range of inking systems from a manual filling product (easy.fill) through a semi-automatic on press cartridge system (handy.fill) to the automated ink.line and fully integrated container to tank system (ink.supply) which is a popular choice for web houses and long perfecting users. Cartridge systems are standard 2kg containers which are resealable, ideal for specials. They can be used on various makes of press and are especially popular in the B1 and B2 sector. Barrel, container or tank system capacity can vary depending on the size and number of presses.
