EFI Delivers Fifth Consecutive Year of APPS Growth, Including Strongest Quarter of MIS Sales Ever in Fourth Quarter
Wednesday 04. February 2009 - EFI APPS Solutions Continue to Meet Growing Need for Optimization of the Print Manufacturing Process
EFI (Nasdaq: EFII), the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today announced that its Advanced Professional Print Software (APPS) business unit delivered growth for the fifth year in a row with $61.6 million in full-year revenue and 20 percent year-over-year growth in MIS in Q4. The fourth quarter of 2008 was the strongest quarter ever for MIS sales, and the third and fourth quarters were the best two quarters in a row for MIS in the company’s history. EFI’s APPS business unit comprises the company’s industry-leading MIS, web-to-print, and inkjet proofing and production workflow solutions.
“Despite the challenging economy, 2008 was a record year for our print MIS business,” said Marc Olin, senior vice president and general manager, EFI APPS. “The fact that we achieved several new sales records during these tough times is proof that our customers realize we’re the strongest partner in the marketplace with solutions that help them save money, increase profits, and improve business productivity. In particular, we saw very strong demand for our new EFI Pace offering. Overall there was strong demand from our existing clients looking to add further value to their EFI print MIS solutions as well as many new clients who are now recognizing the value of these offerings.”
EFI customers are passionate about the critical role their MIS systems play in day-to-day business operations and in their future success. “EFI Pace allows us to do more work with less people, from initial customer inquiry through estimating, order entry, production and invoicing,” said John Rawlins, president of Tathwell Printing of Charlotte, North Carolina. “EFI Pace runs the show – we would almost be out of business without it.”
Wayne Angstrom, chairman and CEO of Angstrom Graphics, said: “We’ve been a long-time EFI customer, using Hagen and Auto-Count for many years. We’re in the process of installing Prograph and PrintFlow to complete the EFI Monarch suite. This combination of powerful solutions is critical to keeping us competitive in these challenging economic times. Together, they give us the knowledge to improve operations, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction. I would not want to be weathering this storm today without our EFI solutions.”
In addition to record sales and revenue in 2008, the APPS business unit had several other notable achievements, including winning three “Must See ’em” awards at Graph Expo 2008 for EFI Pace, EFI Monarch and EFI Digital StoreFront; JDF certification of EFI Prograph, EFI Hagen and EFI Pace; the launch of Colorproof eXpress, an entry-level software RIP for proofing, along with enhancements to all of the MIS systems; and the signing of 40 new Pace customers.
