Countdown for DLD 2009

Thursday 22. January 2009 - The countdown is on: From Sunday on, entrepreneurs, writers, designers, Nobel prize laureates and founders are gathering in Munich for the annual digital conference DLD (Digital, Life, Design). About 800 distinguished guests are expected to participate in the synergy forum at Hypovereinsbankforum in downtown Munich between January 25 and 27. This year’s motto is "New Realities".

“Our world has changed dramatically. The global financial crisis, new technologies, major changes in the media markets—all these things create new realities. DLD is Europe’s major innovation exchange, the event to discuss new markets, products and ideas,” says co-founder Marcel Reichart about the 2009 conference.

“DLD is interdisciplinary, creates interfaces and brings together people from many different backgrounds,” explains DLD co-founder Steffi Czerny. Accordingly, the list of topics is manifold: Cloud computing and online education are on the agenda as well as philantrocapitalism and sustainable city design. This year’s regional focus is on the growth regions South America and Eastern Europe.

One of the interdisciplinary encounters on the DLD stage will be the one between Daniel Kahnemann, winner of the 2002 Nobel prize for economics, and Nassim Taleb, author of “The Black Swan”. This year’s DLD conference will also see the presentation of a brand-new study on Internet politics, accompanied by a panel discussion on the same topic.

“Hubert Burda Media stands to benefit from DLD as regards innovations and business opportunities,” says Marcel Reichart. The conference’s media team wants to arrange more than 250 interviews with DLD speakers. For the first time a TV studio has been set up. In addition, there is a special video channel on Sevenload.
