DTI Appoints Steve Nilan VP of Marketing
Wednesday 14. January 2009 - Industry veteran brings deep Web and SaaS experience
Digital Technology International (DTITM) has today announced the appointment of Steve Nilan as vice president of marketing.
Over the last decade, Nilan has worked as an entrepreneur, advisor and investor to many hi-tech software companies, and brings with him considerable digital and SaaS (Software as a Service) expertise.
Prior to that he spent nearly 20 years in the newspaper industry. He was vice president of marketing at System Integrators, Inc. where he held worldwide responsibilities and created the MediaBridge division, which pioneered online classifieds at the Chicago Tribune and other major publishers in the mid-1990’s. Nilan also held positions with PPIMedia, Logicon, Harris Corporation and Composition Systems Inc. (CSI).
“I was drawn back to the industry because I believe in the important role of newspapers and saw the once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute to the transformation and survival of newspapers,” said Nilan. “I’ve joined DTI because this is a company that is growing, and can drive the industry transformation with a clear vision and solutions that are as innovative as those of the best entrepreneurial companies.”
Nilan earned a BA from Villanova University and an MBA from Iona College.
Steve Nilan is a venture partner with Velocity Venture Capital, which has invested in more than 20 technology companies including Fundability, a SaaS company that Nilan founded and lead as CEO. During the last 10 years he has also served strategic advisory roles with KhiMetrics (acquired by SAP, NYSE: SAP), WebRaiser (acquired by Flextronics, Nasdaq: FLEX) and Atone Software (acquired by First American CoreLogic, NYSE:FAF). Nilan was co-founder of CampusEngine, a venture-backed startup that web-enabled college newspapers to create an online network of more than 2 million students.
