CANON U.S.A. SUBSIDIARIES RECEIVE ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION
Tuesday 13. January 2009 - Canon Facilities in Virginia, Maryland and California Certified under Canon's Global ISO 14001 Consolidated Certification Initiative
Continuing its efforts to be an environmentally responsible and conscious company, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that its subsidiaries in Chesapeake, Virginia, Rockville, Maryland, and Irvine, California, have received ISO 14001 Certification under Canon’s Global ISO 14001 Certification Initiative.
The ISO 14001 Standard is an internationally accepted specification for environmental management systems created by the International Organization for Standardization to help organizations minimize how their operations affect the environment and comply with related laws, regulations and requirements. The newly certified facilities are the homes to Canon Information Technology Services, Inc. (Chesapeake, Virginia), Canon U.S. Life Sciences, Inc. (Rockville, Maryland) and Canon Development Americas, Inc. (Irvine, California).
As part of the efforts to achieve this well-recognized certification, Canon U.S.A. has established its own Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure that the Company’s activities, products and services have minimal impact on or risk to the environment. Canon’s EMS helps monitor and improve upon a number of areas that touch on the environment, such as energy efficiency, resource conservation, waste management, chemical control and toner cartridge recycling. Canon U.S.A., Inc., acquired ISO 14001 certification in 2007, and continues to work towards achieving a consolidated ISO 14001 certificate for the entire Canon group worldwide.
