ViewSonic Selects 3M MicroTouch DST as Touch Interface for New Commercial Display

3M Touch Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the 3M Company and a leading innovator and manufacturer of touch technology, and ViewSonic Corporation, a leading global provider of visual display products, join in announcing today at the 2009 International CES that ViewSonic has selected the 3M MicroTouch DST Touch System as the touch interface for its new commercial display, the CD4220T. The ViewSonic CD4220T incorporates a visually-appealing industrial design with a 42″ HDTV-ready display and DST touch screen to create an ideal interactive solution for mall kiosks, building directories, hotel lobbies and training rooms.

Best known for its superior performance in contaminant-prone, public environments, the 3M MicroTouch DST Touch System offers ViewSonic display system integrators important interactive signage components, such as an integrated system for aesthetic display appearance and chemically-strengthened glass to help protect displays in vandal-prone locations. The touch system features excellent light transmission and minimized screen glare for optimal user viewing in brightly-lit areas, and fast, accurate and responsive touch from hand or stylus, even with multiple users touching the display.

The ViewSonic CD4220T delivers images at resolutions up to 1080i and 500 nits of brightness, and also has a 1500:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Its 8ms response time helps to deliver blur-free scrolling text and video, and its 1366×768 resolution is optimal for PC use and provides crisp video and images. It contains RS-232 and VGA inputs / outputs, enabling connectivity to multiple displays on a network, as well as HDMI, S-video, component, composite and PC RGB inputs.

The CD4220T is available immediately with an MSRP of $2,999 and will be on display at Bellagio Ballroom 6 during the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, from January 8-9, 2009.
