Quad/Graphics has promoted Kelly Vanderboom to the role of Vice President & Treasurer. In this capacity, he is responsible for a wide variety of finance-related functions including maintaining relationships with lending institutions and securing financing; managing risk; forecasting current-year expenditures; planning capital expenditures; making investments to reduce the risk of adverse price movements on foreign currency and energy; overseeing the Credit department; and assisting in the company’s annual share valuation.
For the past year, Mr. Vanderboom has served as Quad/Graphics’ Treasurer and an Officer of the company. He will continue to work closely with Senior Vice President of Finance & CFO John Fowler to develop, implement and finance the strategies that will propel the company’s ongoing profitable growth.
“Kelly has an acute understanding of our company and marketplace dynamics, and he’ll be at the forefront of our efforts to increase market share,” said Joel Quadracci, Quad/Graphics President & CEO. “I am confident that in his expanded role, he’ll drive Quad/Graphics to even higher levels of success.”
“I’m pleased to expand my leadership role and look forward to continuing to help the company leverage its financial strength and strong cash flow to take advantage of profitable growth opportunities,” Mr. Vanderboom said.
Mr. Vanderboom began his career at Quad/Graphics in June 1996 when he joined the Corporate Training program. He rotated through several departments before taking a permanent Accounting position in the company’s Parcel Direct subsidiary in 1998. Promoted into management in 2001, Mr. Vanderboom served as Parcel Direct’s Controller from 2001 until 2004, when the parcel consolidation subsidiary was sold to FedEx.
Immediately following the sale of Parcel Direct, Mr. Vanderboom focused full-time as Controller for Quad/Graphics’ Distribution and Facilities departments, and then turned his attention to our company’s Risk Management functions and was promoted to Director of Treasury, Risk & Planning in 2006. His responsibilities grew in 2007 when he also became responsible for our company’s capital expenditure planning process and, later, was appointed Treasurer and an Officer of the company.
Among Mr. Vanderboom’s many other contributions to Quad/Graphics was serving as an integral member of the acquisition team of Craftsman Press West in Reno, Nev., in 2006.
Mr. Vanderboom is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s Strategic Leadership Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from UW-Madison as well.
