State News Becomes Latest Student Newspaper to Choose WoodWing
Wednesday 24. December 2008 - The newspaper at Michigan State University has joined the growing ranks of college publications that are powered by WoodWing. The State News, one of the largest student newspapers in the country, recently installed Enterprise, WoodWings industry-leading editorial system.
The student-run newspaper is published five days a week during the school year, and has a daily circulation of about 28,500. Founded in 1909, the State News became a daily publication in 1942, and has a staff of about 150.
“The State News is an impressive student publication,” said Brian Kruger, CEO of WoodWing USA. “Its a lively, great-looking newspaper with an aggressive approach to covering the news. The State News also has a robust Web site (www.statenews.com), which been honored numerous times as one of the best student newspaper Web sites in the country. Enterprise was what they were looking for in terms of a fully integrated editorial system.”
The State News joins a number of other top student newspapers in the U.S. that have made the switch to Enterprise, including the Daily Tar Heel at the University of North Carolina and The Daily of the University of Washington.
“Were finding that Enterprise is becoming increasingly popular with student newspapers for a number of reasons,” Kruger said. “Its powerful and versatile enough to fit any size or type of publication, and its a very user-friendly system. And because they always have new staff members coming on board, theyre looking for an editorial system that can be quickly learned and mastered.”
