Metso to supply grinding equipment to Norilsk Nickel in Russia
Tuesday 16. December 2008 - Metso will supply grinding equipment to Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) "Mining and Metallurgical Company Norilsk Nickel" (MMC Norilsk Nickel) for its subsidiary Talnakh Concentrator in Northern Russia. The delivery will be completed by the end of 2010. The value of the order is approximately EUR 40 million.
The order comprises of a semi-autogenous (SAG) grinding mill with a diameter of 34 feet and two ball mills each with a diameter of 22 feet. The order also includes ancillary equipment, as well as installation and commissioning services.
Located at the Taimyr Peninsula in Siberia, the Talnakh Concentrator processes rich ores mined at the Talnakh and Oktyabrsky deposits to produce nickel, copper and pyrrhotite concentrates. Metsos delivery is for the renovation project of the minerals processing plant at the Talnakh Concentrator. The project targets to increase the present capacity from 10.5 million tons of ore processed to an estimated annual production of 17 million tons of ore.
