Peach, lime and cherry: BASF offers inspiration to the leather industry in Europe for the spring-summer season 2010
Friday 12. December 2008 - 12 stylish types of leathers and 32 fashion colors; Focus on elegant buffed leathers
The motto “Edition Caprileone” is being used to present an impressive mixture of fresh summer colors and colors of nature for fashionable leathers. The fresh green, apricot and red shades remind one of ice cream flavors such as peach, lime and cherry. The range is completed by the blue and green shades of the ocean and different brown shades. Elegant buffed leathers in shades inspired by nature and leathers with a slight sheen are the latest trend. The transparent look and the silky glow of the surface together with the natural handle are due to the innovative BASF products Lepton Aquatop TG, Lepton Wax E-XP and Lepton Wax E-ZP. The complete procedure for manufacturing each stylish type of leather appears in a separate booklet . The trends, which are only being issued for Europe, can also be carried over to other regions of the world.
This is confirmed by Dr. Gerhard Wolf, head of global technical service for leather at BASF: “Our brochure Inspirations for leather is primarily a source of information for tanners and leather processing businesses in Europe. Because the processes are simple and the possibilities for variation are unlimited, it can also provide other countries and regions with inspiration for the local or regional market.”
The fashion experts Manuel Vila, BASF Curtex S.A., Spain, and Tom Markelj, BASF SE, Ludwigshafen, Germany, add: “In an economically difficult climate, tanners can generate new areas of business in the leather processing industry with stylish effects and unusual surfaces.”
All of the leather presented here can be used as shoe upper leather, bag leather and garment leather .
