RR Donnelley To Create Integrated Printing, Finishing and Service Center in Minneapolis – St. Paul Area
Thursday 11. December 2008 - Bringing Twin Cities Facilities Under One Roof To Create Footprint Of The Future For Serving Customers' Marketing Communications Needs
R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NYSE:RRD) today announced that it will bring comprehensive commercial printing, direct mail, specialty catalog, electronic media, select fulfillment and prepress capabilities under one roof in Chanhassen, MN. The Twin Cities facility will combine the resources of RR Donnelley’s existing Chanhassen facility with its state-of-the-art commercial printing operation presently located in Eden Prairie, MN. “This new model is designed to reduce cycle times even further and to minimize hand-offs between facilities,” said John Paloian, RR Donnelley’s Chief Operating Officer. “Consolidating these operations and re-engineering their workflows creates the footprint of the future for meeting customers’ transactional marketing communications needs in major metropolitan areas. This integrated facility will bring the required capabilities into a single operation, ideally positioned to serve customers with even faster, local service.”
Marketing communications professionals are increasingly managing complex programs that require precisely timed and coordinated direct mail, in-store or in-branch collateral, training literature, event marketing materials and more.
“The combined facility is being redesigned to serve the full spectrum of needs associated with communications programs,” added Daniel Knotts, RR Donnelley Group President. “These facilities were originally parts of different acquisitions. While they have already been independently integrated into RR Donnelley’s operating structure, this consolidation illustrates that we continue to find innovative ways to create efficiencies, drive synergies and to bring added value to our customers.”
The RR Donnelley operation in Chanhassen is expected to be fully integrated and operational early in 2009.
