Wednesday 03. December 2008 - PHOENIX Xtra BLANKETS printing blankets satisfy the test criteria of FOGRA.

Topaz CARAT and Ruby CARAT, printing blankets of PHOENIX Xtra BLANKETS, have satisfied the test criteria of FOGRA Druck e.V. On behalf of the three leading printing press manufacturers Heidelberg, Koenig & Bauer and manroland, the research association tested several consumables for alternating printing. “We are delighted that our two Phoenix Xtra Blankets have been certified,” says Joachim Herrmann, head of research and development at ContiTech Elastomer Coatings. “The FOGRA test is important to provide clarity about whether the materials are suited to print with oil-based or hybrid inks as well as with UV inks. That is the wish of many customers.”

FOGRA pays particular attention to what extent the two printing blankets pass the elastomer swell test. The test of the Topaz CARAT blanket – a universal 4-ply printing blanket of exceptional durability, which ensures long-term good results when printing with hybrid inks thanks to its resistance to swelling – was performed with inks that feature the black product certification. In turn, the Ruby CARAT blanket – worldwide no. 1 in UV offset printing thanks to its outstanding printing results and its long service life – was tested by experts using inks with the blue product certification. The testers were impressed by both the Topaz CARAT as well as the Ruby CARAT blanket. “This certification is for us an objective guarantee for the high quality of our products”, Herrmann explained. “This is especially important for our customers when it comes to UV printing, a growing technology.”
