Concentra Invites the Public to Become Journalists for the Day

Tuesday 25. November 2008 - At the annual Antwerp Book Fair, Belgium, local newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen took the interesting step of inviting visitors to become ‘journalists for a day’.

Gazet van Antwerpen, a local newspaper owned by Concentra Media, a diverse media company dedicated to ‘connecting communities’, took their editorial computers to the fair and invited the public to participate in producing pages.

The technology behind the project is an editorial system developed by Digital Technology International (DTI), a leading publishing solutions supplier that provides Concentra with its newsroom production technology.

“The day was a great success, we created a memorable one-off newspaper” said Rob Drijkoningen, Concentra Planning Manager. “Local celebrities were invited to witness and participate in the event, including the mayor of Antwerp, Patrick Janssens.

“There was a 20 Mbit connection to the servers at the newspaper’s office. We were there to support the improvised Gazet van Antwerpen newsroom and make sure everything worked flawlessly – which I’m pleased to say, it did.”
