Wifag-Polytype Group acquires digital printing from Spühl
Wednesday 05. November 2008 - The Wifag-Polytype Group has recently entered the digital printing arena by acquiring the digital printing division of the company Spühl/Leggett & Platt together with its workforce of approximately thirty employees in Switzerland and the US, effective November 1, 2008.
This new business unit will be integrated into Wifag Polytype Holding AG under the name WP Digital AG, and will have its head offices in Wittenbach near St. Gallen, Switzerland. Wifag Polytype Holding has about 1,500 employees worldwide and is internationally active in a wide range of business segments, including rotary printing presses for newspapers (WIFAG) as well as packaging printing presses and converting systems for the cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical industries (Polytype). It is also active in the graphic machines and accessories market (Wifac).
WP Digital AG will continue to concentrate on the development, sales and servicing of large-format digital printers and will become the competence centre for digital printing in the Wifag Polytype Group. Spühl AG will continue to manufacture large-format digital printers for WP Digital AG.
The existing marketing channels and the opportunities provided by the Wifag Polytype Group constitute an ideal combination that will target further growth for WP Digital AG and expand into new areas involving digital printing.
