Environment Certification for manrolands Web Press Manufacturing Locations
Friday 31. October 2008 - manroland has met the requirements of the Integrated Management System stipulated by the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Standard and the ISO 14001:2005 Environmental Management System, and both the Augsburg and Plauen locations have been certified.
With this certification manroland meets the requirements of customers, legislators, and its own as well. manroland places great importance on developing its employees knowledge and consciousness of environment-compatible working methods. At the same time, the ISO 14001:2005-certified Environmental Management System is an instrument with which manroland can prove that its processes and systems comply with legislative requirements. This is the result of the work done by a team of environment, quality, and workplace safety specialists who adapted all environment-relevant processes within the company to comply with the standard.
Why is a certified environment management system necessary?
manroland is determined to greatly reduce pollution and other hazards for the environment. Environment protection is to be improved in the production facilities as well as the products. manroland is paying special attention to reducing waste rates, energy consumption and emissions. Comprehensive systems record waste data and the associated costs. VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions and environment index numbers are recorded and training is given in environmental matters. VOC emissions can cause health problems such as irritation to mucous membrane, headaches, or lead to loss of concentration. For example, manroland has invested a considerable sum to modernize the casting shavings extraction system in Augsburg. The metal shavings storage area in Plauen has been modernized as well. And in the waste management area there is now a new recycling system for foils and empty containers.
