Screen Trueflow SE Ver. 6.0 Introduces Powerful Features, Increased Flexibility and Greater Level of Automation
Wednesday 29. October 2008 - The Screen (USA) booth at Graph Expo 2008 will include special demonstration areas for visitors to discover the most recent developments in the Trueflownet concept.
Trueflownet comprises numerous interconnected activities that move the printing industry toward a truly automated workflow, with PDF and JDF as the core technology. The guiding principle behind Trueflownet is the integration of Screen software with as wide a range of complementary third-party products as possible.
Trueflow SE is the heart of the Trueflow Suite of products within Screen’s JDF-enabled Trueflownet environment. Trueflow Suite software increases prepress productivity. Preflight, color conversion, imposition, trapping and RIPing can be implemented in a completely automated prepress production workflow. Furthermore, JDF is the communication tool between areas where production processing takes place. This facilitates fast job setups and prevents errors that can occur through the rekeying or miscommunication of data.

Since its launch in 2000, Trueflow has evolved from an intelligent RIP application in a CTP workflow to an essential universal workflow for businesses that maintain a hybrid offset/digital environment.
“Trueflow has become more user-friendly and added new cutting-edge technology while progressing continuously toward the advanced capabilities it has today,” said Scott Benson, product coordinator for CTP/workflow. “In 2007, Screen released Trueflow SE, a workflow system that is compatible with JDF and CIP4 and incorporates the latest RIP technology, combined with Screen’s CTP workflow know-how.”
Trueflow SE Ver. 6.0, a newly developed upgrade to the robust workflow management system, provides flexible and highly automated CTP and digital printing press production using JDF-based job tickets.
With Trueflow SE Ver. 6.0, data and process management in a hybrid workflow are unified under a single system, immediately before printing begins. Production personnel can easily respond to changes, even last-minute changes in the number of copies required.
Trueflow SE Ver. 6.0 integrates everything from the automated handling of incoming jobs to prepress production, proofing and output to different digital devices. Trueflow SE Ver. 6.0 makes it possible to build an advanced automated workflow that encompasses the entire print production workflow, from management information systems to press and postpress processing.
Featuring the reliable Adobe PDF Print Engine, Trueflow SE Ver. 6.0 is extremely user-friendly. It introduces a range of powerful new features that provide users with increased flexibility and a greater level of automation and quality control.
OutlinePDF-Advance: This reliable PDF-exchange format secures overall output results, especially in cases where data will be output from unspecified devices. It enables outsourcing, as well as multi-site operation. It also makes for quick and efficient page replacement or output of imposed PDFs. OutlinePDF-Advance preserves the original data compression format for more efficient processing and improves support for processing larger data files.
Digital page inspection: Operators can check for editing errors and color specification problems before the data is imposed.
Versioning: Versioning can be carried out with multiple PDF files or a single layered PDF file. This is a fast and efficient way to produce manuals with multiple language versions or regional advertisements.

“Ensuring efficient CTP operations requires a workflow that can control proofing and plate inspection, among other important processes,” Benson said. “This new version of Trueflow SE not only improves the CTP workflow, but it is also essential for businesses that want to realize a new style of operations in which they can use multiple devices, including digital print-on-demand devices, connected and managed by a single workflow solution.”
Screen (USA) will demonstrate Trueflow SE Ver. 6.0 in booth #3808 at Graph Expo 2008, October 26-29 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
