Ricoh Adds EFI Fiery-Based Production Workflow Solution to Maximize Customers’ Efficiency and Equipment Investment

Wednesday 29. October 2008 - The Production Printing Business Group (PPBG) of Ricoh Americas Corporation and EFI (NASDAQ: EFII) today announced the inclusion of EFI Fiery Central PDF-based production workflow solution in Ricoh’s software solution portfolio.

Fiery Central enables print service providers in medium to high-volume print-on-demand environments, such as corporate reprographic departments (CRD), print for pay, and commercial printers, to increase job volume, decrease turnaround times and maximize their Ricoh product investment. The solutions are on display at Graph Expo in EFI booth 2000 and Ricoh booth 1775 (through Oct. 29, McCormick Place).

To address customers’ specific needs, and expand as their workflow requirements change, Fiery Central comes in three modular components. Fiery Central Focus is the base module, providing a centralized job management and make-ready solution. Fiery Central Flow enables easy set-up of customized workflows to fully automate repetitive tasks. Fiery Central Balance allows management of a heterogeneous printer network, increasing productivity by combining multiple devices into a “printer group,” enabling load balancing and color splitting to optimize asset utilization.

“Today more than ever, customers are looking for smart ways to optimize their digital workflow and automate redundant tasks in order to realize the maximum profits in their digital printing operation,” said Carl Joachim, vice president, marketing for PPBG, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “By integrating the Fiery Central production workflow solution and Ricoh’s high-end production engines, including the new Pro C900, our customers can better manage their digital workflow and streamline production printing to further develop and enhance their digital business.”

“With Fiery Central, we’ve extended the Fiery power familiar to many Ricoh customers, delivering a customizable workflow solution to increase production and optimize resources,” said Frank Mallozzi, senior vice president, worldwide marketing and sales, EFI. “Users will be impressed with how easy it is to automate their workflows, and they’ll see efficiency sky rocket with color splitting and load balancing capabilities.”

Ricoh customers are already benefiting from Fiery Central, as is their own internal document management team. Paul Millage, preflight team lead of Ricoh Document Management, said: “Fiery Central’s customizable workflows have provided stability and consistency to our prepress processes. And with centralized job management from within Fiery, turnaround times are shorter and device usage is maximized.”
