“IWCO Direct offers best-in-class high-volume direct mail printing”
Monday 27. October 2008 - IWCO Direct has served the needs of North American markets for over 35 years. They provide high quality direct marketing by seamlessly integrating direct mail services, resulting in streamlined production for all components - printing, plastics, envelope conversion and mailing.
The company has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years and has aggressively expanded its production and distribution network through key acquisitions and technology investments. In October 2006 IWCO Direct signed a purchase agreement to acquire an Elm City, NC production facility and its employee base from Cox Target Media. In July 2005, IWCO Direct acquired a Long Island, New York production facility and in November 2004, the company established a high-volume mail center at its Chanhassen, Minn., headquarters.
In May 2007 IWCO Direct invested in two Drent Goebel Vision web offset presses for the Elm City, North Carolina facility. Both machines have ten print towers and inline finishing capabilities. One machine is equipped with heat-set drying and the other with UV curing. The intention is to sign the contract for two additional Vision presses in the near future. Myron Brown, VP Operations – North Carolina, and Chris Nutter, Capital Projects Engineer, worked closely on the installation of both presses.
Total package
According to Chris and Myron the key factor for IWCO Directs success is the fact that they offer a true total package, offering all services from graphic design through to production and sorting and distributing the final piece.
“An important factor in offering a total package is that it really shortens cycle time, by reducing time spent on transport, you reduce problems of accountability that might be shifted from one company to the other and therefore you bring cost down as well,” Myron Brown comments.
The purchase and installation of the Drent Goebel Vision presses for its newly acquired North Carolina facility further supports IWCO Directs ability to offer
clients best-in-class high-volume direct mail printing. IWCO Direct selected the Vision press for its ability to run at high speeds which increases throughput.
The Vision press is also equipped with both heat-set and UV capabilities, giving IWCO Direct more flexibility downstream in its personalization process. The installation supports IWCO Directs goal of responding to market needs by achieving higher operating speeds with greater flexibility while reducing waste.
Trouble-free operation
“We are impressed with the Vision presss versatility, performance and engineering,” says Chris Nutter. These innovative web offset presses have a web width of 20.5″ (520 mm), servo drive controls, a fully automated print unit insert system, a user-friendly operating platform and a fully automated bindery/processing section. You can really see that the Vision press is designed for years of trouble-free operation.”
