Compose System Brings a New Level of Innovation to Plate Production in the Label and Packaging Industry

Intelligent Step-and-Repeat, All-in-One Plate Production Brings Low Cost, High Productivity to CTP Operations

Friday 24. October 2008 - Intelligent Step-and-Repeat, All-in-One Plate Production Brings Low Cost, High Productivity to CTP Operations

Plate Controller V2 incorporates many enhancements that improve productivity and profitability for CTP-driven printing operations in the sheetfed offset, web offset and flexographic printing worlds. Fast, interactive step-and-repeat, a template structure for quickly setting up jobs and Autopack for fast, automated repeat production of jobs, are just a few of the options this new version brings to one of the most flexible plate production systems in the market.

Compose System, an established developer of pre-press workflow and color proofing solutions, announced the availability of Plate Controller V2, a comprehensive job placement solution for sheetfed offset, web offset and flexographic printing. For CTP-driven printing businesses, this innovative solution reduces production costs, contributing to profitability.

“We have designed Plate Controller to be one of the most versatile and affordable products for companies in the label, packaging and screen printing markets,” said Stefaan Vandermeersch, Product and Sales Manager, of Compose System Europe. “In addition to its flexible layout capabilities, it seamlessly integrates with Express Workflow, Gapfinder technology and other applications for trapping, distortion, proofing. Plate Controller also supports basic imposition templates for the commercial market, adding to its versatility.”

Plate Controller’s intuitive interface translates to a rapid learning curve for operators and easily integrates into any PDF or 1-bit TIFF workflow. Support for 1-bit TIFF avoids last-stage RIP or trapping errors, improving overall productivity. Also critical to the packaging and label industries, Plate Controller supports all shapes of labels, nesting for packaging, and front-to-back synchronization for precise registration when two-sided printing is required.

“What really sets this solution apart,” added Vandermeersch, “is its fast, interactive step-and-repeat with preview, and its template structure, both of which increase automation in the plate production process. In addition, there is no output size restriction, even with a 1-bit TIFF workflow, and colors can easily be merged to monochrome output when that is required. For repeat jobs, Autopack ensures fast, automated plate production in busy printing environments.”
