callas software opens up a new way to increase productivity at Ifra

Wednesday 22. October 2008 - New pdfToolbox Server 4 version further extends automated PDF manipulation capabilities

True to its philosophy of finding simple ways to handle complex PDF challenges, callas software launches pdfToolbox Server 4 as well as an update of pdfToolbox 4 plug-in at Ifra Expo 2008/Amsterdam.

After the successful introduction at drupa 2008, the callas pdfToolbox 4 plug-in has since proven its value as a powerful and productive all-in-one PDF production tool. With its greatly extended feature set, non-experts can now go beyond preflighting and fixing PDFs, to preparing presentations, handling versioning and imposition and advanced color management in record time.

Extending the limits of PDFs

A logical next step following the introduction of the plug-in is the release of pdfToolbox Server 4. Available by the end of October, callas pdfToolbox Server 4 is based on one technology platform, offering an easy way to automate the PDF workflow by allowing several actions to a PDF in one run. All new features found in the pdfToolbox 4 plug-in, extensive PDF correction, page manipulation, preparing PDF presentation or imposition, can now be done fully automatically. These processes are easily defined in the elegant user interface of the pdfToolbox 4 plug-in. This keeps the server running, resulting in a simple set-up while maintaining the highest processing speed. callas software has also been the first to adopt the latest specifications of the Ghent PDF Workgroup, meaning that pdfToolbox 4 is again fully GWG compliant.

Integration with Enfocus Switch

callas pdfToolbox Server 4 is the ideal companion for Enfocus Switch. The unified technology platform allows a complete set-up, Switch users need only one application for correction, color conversion, creation of EPS files and imposition, increasing productivity and easy of use.

Update pdfToolbox 4

At the same time, callas software releases an update of pdfToolbox 4 plug-in with some additional features that will also be found in the server version. The new callas pdfToolbox 4 feature allows to explore and export the XMP information that is embedded in the PDF file to a fully configurable report in XML or tab delimited format. The data associated with the document as well as with the individual images inside the PDF can be retrieved. pdfToolbox 4 plug-in features an intuitive user interface, allowing easy navigation, filtering or grouping of the metadata. By combining XMP metadata with data about the placement of images, XMP metadata are turned into even more useful information.
Supports all major XMP standards, including IPTC, EXIF, AdsML, PLUS Picture Licensing Universal System, Medibel+/GWG AdTicket, PDF/A, Creative Commons, PRISM and Camera Raw. Other new features in pdfToolbox 4 concern the converting of registration color to black only, the limiting of DeviceLink conversion to specific objects and easy installation of customer DeviceLink profiles.

callas pdfToolbox Server/CLI will be available at 3.999 EUR. Upgrade of any former version will cost 1.499 EUR. The grace period for pdfToolbox Server 3 customers started on July 1, 2008.
