Ringier Print Adligenswil and Neue Luzerner Zeitung in Switzerland start operating latest-generation computer-to-plate technology
Monday 20. October 2008 - A major project to overhaul Ringier's newspaper printing centre in Adli-genswil (rollenwechsel.ch) is taking shape.
Perfectly on schedule, Agfa’s Polaris XTVs Computer-to-Plate (CtP) system was handed over to the production team on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. The high-speed visible light system was officially inaugurated by Martin Werfeli, CEO of Ringier, Moritz Rogger, Regional President of Agfa Graphics Europe Central, and Erwin Bachmann, CEO of LZ who ceremoniously cut the red ribbon.
The three Agfa CtP :POLARIS XTV-S visible light systems will increase plate production at Ringier Print and Neue Luzerner Zeitung by 30 percent. The system uses Agfa’s N92V violet plates and Agfa’s VXL-65 developing units. The new-generation photopolymer plates perfectly fulfils the high standards of the Adlingenswil printing centre in terms of screen ruling (up to 180 lpi with :Sublima screens), stability and run lengths (> 350,000 print runs).
The :POLARIS XTV-S was also designed to work with the new chemistry-free Agfa :N92VCF printing plates. From an ecological point of view this is definitely the right step for the future because the plate developing step is replaced by a cleaning process with gum. This shortens the plate production process, and makes the process more reliable.
Ringier Print Adligenswil, Neue Luzerner Zeitung and Agfa are pleased with how quickly this modernisation to the latest CtP technology was realised, successfully solidifying a partnership that was built up over the past 10 years.
