MITSUBISHI IMAGING OFFERS FOREST-FRIENDLY INKJET PAPERS
Friday 17. October 2008 - Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc., today announced it is distributing eco-friendly inkjet papers certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).The FSC is the global standard-setter in responsible forest management.
The papers, which include varieties sold under the Diamond Jet brand, are sourced through Mitsubishi Imaging parent Mitsubishi Paper Mills (MPM). The FSC has recognized MPM as one of the forerunners in sustainable forest management.
“Our customers are demanding paper that does less harm to the environment, and they are prepared to support sustainability with their purchases,” said Steven Vallario, director of Digital Imaging Marketing for Mitsubishi Imaging. “FSC certification means our products meet high social and environmental standards. Certification is also an important part of Mitsubishi Imaging’s corporate philosophy of enriching society while contributing to the global environment.”
Mitsubishi Paper Mills has received chain-of-custody certification, which guarantees that wood that comes from certified, responsibly managed forestlands is tracked throughout the supply chain, from the forest to the consumer. The certification was given by the Rainforest Alliance.
Mitsubishi Imaging is purchasing FSC-certified paper from two MPM mills in Germany – Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Flensburg and Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Bielefeld.
About 40 percent of all commercially traded timber globally is used to produce paper, according to the FSC. And paper consumption is expected to grow by about 50 percent in the next few years. The U.S. is the biggest market for paper products globally, producing 90 million tons of paper and consuming 100 million tons of paper each year, according to the FSC.
Diamond Jet Inkjet Media is distributed in the Americas exclusively through Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc. and is available through Mitsubishi’s authorized dealer network
