Double Exposure: L + L Printers Named to List of Fastest-Growing Companies, Profiled in Business Publication
Thursday 16. October 2008 - L + L Printers recently gained some well-deserved recognition for its business acumen. The Carlsbad, Calif.-based commercial printer was ranked seventh in an annual list of the 100 fastest-growing private companies in the San Diego area.
The San Diego Business Journal, which published the list in September, also gave L + L Printers an opportunity to share the secrets to its success. The business weekly profiled the printing company as part of a special package of articles that accompanied the rankings.
Established in 1959, L + L Printers has purchased three 40-inch Mitsubishi presses in the past eight years. The company acquired its first Mitsubishi press, an eight-color model equipped with a coating unit, in 2000. That press was followed in 2006 by a four-color Diamond 3000S with coating unit. A six-color Diamond 3000S was added in 2008 to provide L + L Printers’ customers with faster service and more diversity in the types of commercial projects it prints.
The company finished the year 2007 with $13.3 million in sales an increase of 444 percent from 2005 to 2007. More than 70 employees staff the main printing plant in Carlsbad and a satellite location in San Diego.
L + L Printers has a thriving business producing action sports catalogs, annual reports, marketing materials and point-of-purchase displays. The combination of sophisticated prepress software, computer-to-plate imaging and printing technology enables the company to deliver beautiful work. The Mitsubishi presses easily accommodate four-color process work, as well as jobs that require five or more colors or specialty projects where metallic inks and other effect pigments help ensure dramatic results.
