Tetra Pak to invest 15 Million in Italian test & assembly plant, R&D facilities in Modena

Tetra Pak, the world leader in food processing and packaging solutions, today announced it will invest 15 million in its research and development, test and assembly facility in Modena, Italy. This investment will provide new office space for 80 staff and expand test facilities.
“The continued expansion of Tetra Paks activities in Modena reflects our focus on costdriven innovation which deliver solutions that support our customers business,” said Ivano Selmi, Vice President of Tetra Pak Packaging Solutions S.p.A. and Managing Director for the Modena site.
Tetra Pak has invested over 25 million in Modena over the last five years, underlining the companys ongoing commitment both to the plant and the region. The new office space will provide work stations for 80 people, including 50 new jobs across disciplines such as development and engineering, marketing and supply chain.
The Modena site was established in 1979 as the first site outside of Lund in Sweden to assemble Tetra Pak’s world-leading aseptic packaging systems. From an initial staff of 30 focussed on the assembly of filling machines, the team has grown as activity expanded to include research and development as well as testing and assembly of ambient carton packaging systems. Today the site also houses a worldwide Research and Development Centre, a worldwide marketing and product management team and global development as well as test and assembly of Tetra Pak A3 platforms.
Other recent investments in Tetra Pak facilities worldwide
Tetra Pak continues to invest in production facilities around the world to meet customer needs. In June it announced a 90 million investment to build a new state-of-the-art packaging material factory in Pakistan and 30 million in leading edge printing and laminating technologies at its packaging materials plant in Monte Mor, Brazil. In May the company announced a 26 million investment in new printing and laminating technologies in its packaging materials plant in Rubiera, Italy. In 2007, Tetra Pak inaugurated a new converting plant near Moscow, Russia to support its growth in the country and Eastern Europe, investing more than 100 million to build this plantthe largest in Russia and Eastern Europe to produce packaging material for liquid food products.
