Freedom increases use of ProImage ink optimisation software
Wednesday 01. October 2008 - - proven ink and financial savings - reduces carbon footprint - creates higher print quality
Based on the achievements at the Daily Press, Victorville, CA, and internal comparisons, Freedom Communications, Inc. is to install ProImage OnColor ECO ink optimisation software at more of its newspaper sites.
Freedom’s flagship newspaper, the Santa Ana, CA-based Orange County Register with a circulation of 330,000, has a reputation as one of the finest newspapers in the world. Other flagship newspapers include The Monitor in McAllen, TX, and the Gaston Gazette in Gastonia, NC. All three are to implement ProImage OnColor ECO ink optimisation software.
In addition, The Gazette, Colorado Springs, CO, and East Valley Tribune, Mesa, AZ are in the process of installing the solution.
“We expect a minimum of 15% reduction in overall ink spend,” says Gary Blakeley, Freedoms Senior Director, Production/Group Purchasing. “We have used the product in Victorville, CA with great results. OnColor also ties-in well with our workflow software (ProImage NewsWay) that is used in the majority of our locations.”
“Newspaper publishers, along with all other well-managed businesses, are concerned about increasing the quality of their products, reducing their carbon footprint and impact on the environment, and reducing their production costs,” states Rick Shafranek, ProImage America Vice President of Sales. “Ink optimisation should be a no brainer. Not only is OnColor ECO proven to reduce colour ink consumption; it provides sharper images due to increase black component, provides quicker registration, and faster ink drying time is achieved due to reduced amount of ink with less rub off”.
