Automation wins out in AHPs folder selection
Monday 22. September 2008 - Ancient House Press has installed two new Heidelberg folders, a combination KH82 and a buckle TH 82. Selected for their automation and the turnround times they allow the Ipswich company to achieve, they are said to have already secured the company new contracts.
“A bindery can win work!” says Paul Sadler, production director. So Ancient House Press selected its folders carefully, choosing to take two highly autyesomated systems to replace an MBO T800 after a careful review of all makes.
“Automation was where Heidelberg won the order,” says Mr Sadler. “We wanted to increase our firepower, improve makeready times and have a folder that was easy to use. The clear on screen instructions have proved to be very user friendly, so much so that our apprentices are able to makeready on their own under the watchful eye of our highly skilled number 1 operators.”
The buckle folder was selected for its versatility, the combination for its smaller footprint as the company adds capacity to its bindery. It has to be able to deal with a broad range of products, not just standard A4 and A5 brochures. These included folded leaflets, DL products and calendars.
“We are constantly reviewing machinery and making sure we exploit new technology to the full,” says Mr Sadler. “In fact our success is attracting new employees who want to work with the most up to date kit available and be part of a warm, friendly family run business.”
