Repro India has signed orders for four new Goss presses as part of a considerable expansion project to its printing facility in Sachin, Gujarat, India. Two M-500 and two Community SSC presses will provide the additional capacity Repro India requires to boost magazine printing for the commercial print markets and book sales in the educational and children’s book markets, in which the printer already plays a leading role.

The new Goss Community SSC presses will be configured as one four-high tower with an SSC folder fed by two reelstands. Both will operate at a maximum speed of 35,000 cph with differing cutoffs of 546 mm and 578 mm and will be used exclusively for book printing. The two M-500 presses, running at speeds up to 40,000 cph, will be identically configured with four units and 578 mm cutoffs.

“We are achieving rapid growth due to our ambitious goals,” comments Sunil Unni, chief executive officer at Repro India, on the company’s recent financial results. From 2007 to 2008 Repro India’s revenue grew 19 percent whilst profits rose by 69 percent. “This expansion project will give the company the capability to supply 100 million books to the children’s and educational book markets worldwide, but we intend to boost this figure to 200 million in the short-term.”

The four Goss presses are scheduled for shipment within the year to the 4460 m2 facility in Sachin which resides in a special economic zone (SEZ), and will expand to 5388 m2 with the investment project.

Unni continues, “Not only has Goss International proposed an excellent solution for the increased capacity we require, but the new M-500 and Community SSC presses will provide highly flexible, reliable production and proven print quality, advantages we can pass on to our customers. That’s why we elected to work with Goss International on this project.”

Repro India has many well-known clients in the educational sector including Microsoft, McGraw Hill, IBM Learning Services, Encyclopedia Britannica, Oxford University Press, Orient Longman, Egmont Imagination and Jeevandeep Publications. Clients in the children’s book market include publishers such as Igloo, Arcturus, Beaver Books and Dalmatian.
