John Henry Pairs up with Blackmore on Tag Recycling Program

Thursday 18. September 2008 - John Henry, a Multi Packaging Solutions Company and leader in print, packaging, and merchandising solutions for the horticulture industry, has partnered with Blackmore Corporation, a leading producer of plastic growing trays, to promote recycling of styrene plant tags.

In response to customer interest in sustainable print and packaging John Henry and Blackmore will offer customers a solution to their recycling concerns. The two companies have teamed up on a program that collects clean styrene tags and recycles them to produce plant trays. The program leverages John Henry’s extensive customer base and Blackmore’s state-of-the-art plastic molding capabilities to divert materials back into production that would otherwise end-up in a landfill.

Commenting on the program, Kristi Huffman, Vice President John Henry stated “This is a very exciting opportunity for the horticultural industry to take the next step in ‘going green’. The potential for growers and nurseries to partner with print and packaging suppliers to achieve source reduction will help the entire industry address an issue of shared concern.”

“This is an important step in reducing the carbon footprint of our industry by taking advantage of the of styrene’s excellent recyclability. Our partnership with John Henry will address what had traditionally been the missing link in the recycling chain – a collection mechanism.” stated Skip Blackmore, President of Blackmore Company.
