A manroland UNISET printing system has started up successfully at Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). The 16-tower newspaper printing press installed in the downtown Singapore plant was handed over to Singapore’s largest media group following an intensive testing and qualification phase. SPH formally accepted the press line in a ceremony to mark the official commissioning of the entire Media Centre NewPress Project.
Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam, Chairman of Singapore Press Holdings, expresses nothing but praise: “I would like to thank our partners for their commitment and support.” Peter Kuisle, Executive Vice President Web Printing System Sales at manroland, was delighted about manroland being recognized as a key partner of SPH: “SPH is regarded in the industry as an extremely professional and demanding customer. We are very proud that Singapore’s largest media group, which is renowned for its leadership in product excellence, has placed its trust in manroland once again. The success of this project can largely be attributed to the outstanding collaboration between the two companies.”
SPH now prints on the world’s longest UNISET premium international newspapers such as Asahi Shimbun, Nihon Keisai and International Herald Tribune, in addition to SPH’s own products, Berita Harian, Berita Minggu and My Paper. The 8-page newspaper press is fitted with the latest automated features and excels in productivity and flexibility for both short and long runs

Anthony Cheng, SPH’s Senior Vice President of Production and Chairman of the Project Steering Committee, has full confidence in the press line: “I intend to make this press the best running UNISET in the world.”
