American Media, Inc. Names Marie Wolpert New Publisher of Country Weekly
Monday 08. September 2008 - American Media, Inc. (AMI) today announced that Marie Wolpert has been named Publisher of Country Weekly magazine. She will begin her duties immediately and report to AMI President John Miller.
“We are delighted to have someone with Marie’s broad experience join Country Weekly,” said Mr. Miller. “Her successful track record across a diverse range of advertising categories speaks for itself and her ability to lead a major brand is a tremendous asset to our company.”
Ms. Wolpert has held high-level positions for a number of prominent publications, including being the Associate Publisher of Smart Money and the Advertising Director at New Yorker. Most recently she served as a sales & marketing consultant for the Hearst publications Good Housekeeping and Quick and Simple.
“I am excited by the opportunity to lead the team at Country Weekly, the #1 selling country music magazine,” said Ms. Wolpert. “Country Weekly reaches the heartland of America, speaks directly to the Walmart shopper, and affords advertisers one of the most unique platforms I’ve seen in my career.”
Ms. Wolpert will be based in American Media’s New York Offices, while Country Weekly’s editorial staff will continue to be located in Nashville. Ms. Wolpert replaces Tori Hughes as publisher, who declined to make the transition to New York.
Ms. Wolpert is a graduate of New York University.
