Yell Awards UPM for excellence

Wednesday 16. July 2008 - UPM has been awarded for its continuous improvement and innovation by one of its key customers, the international directories business Yell, in inaugural UK awards for its suppliers.

Around 50 suppliers were nominated in two categories: Service Excellence and Continuous Improvement and Innovation, in awards given during Yell’s fourth annual suppliers forum last month (June). The forum was held in the conference centre at Madejski Stadium near Reading, where Yell’s UK head office is based.

The global forestry products company was recognised for its long term collaborative approach in several areas such as supporting Yell on a number of environmental initiatives.

Fiona Skinner, Yell’s head of purchasing in the UK, said: “UPM understand us and our business. They have proposed some brilliant ideas and process efficiencies to help us make re-investments in value-add initiatives. They have been instrumental, for instance, in leading the way to help us manage our environment better.
“We really value the cross business support from UPM. They are willing to engage at all stages of production and continue to come up with great ideas to make improvements time and time again.”

Mike Holland, Sales Director UPM UK, said: “UPM and Yell have had a long established relationship for more than 30 years. It is extremely pleasing to be recognised for our innovation and partnership approach. A cross-company approach has enabled us to deliver practical and value added support to Yell.”
