WWDC: AppleTalk-PAP printing end of life
Monday 14. July 2008 - Everyone is using TCP/IP based network services, like Web browsing and e-mail. Apple AFP and Windows SMB file sharing migrated to TCP/IP more than a decade ago.
Now Windows Server 2008 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard have removed AppleTalk altogether from the OS. This may affect some customers who still use AppleTalk-PAP for printing. Make sure you have installed HELIOS UB+, which includes TCP printer drivers and easy Bonjour printer browsing, with automatic synchronization of PPDs from the server to the client. Goodbye AppleTalk, you served us for two decades, thank you, we will not miss you.
