ePassport of the Czech Republic personalized on Mühlbauer IDENTIFIER 5000 systems

The company STÁTNÍ TISKÁRNA CENIN, státni podnik (State Printing Works of Securities) has successfully realized the electronic passport in the Czech Republic that bases on a polycarbonate holder page. Mühlbauer was selected for supplying the ePassport personalization equipment.
With machines of the IDENTIFIER 5000 line, Mühlbauer provided its latest state-of-the-art systems for high quality ePassport personalization. Beneath the laser engraving module for personalizing the polycarbonate holder page, an inkjet unit for full color printing on the third side of the booklet is included. The integrated chip is encoded by a contactless chip encoding station. In addition, the passports security is enhanced by a laser perforation unit, which is also inside each of these machines.
Until now, more than 800,000 passports were issued. The project volume in common will be about 500,000 booklets per year. To guarantee a continuous run of the passport personalization the complete Mühlbauer solution additionally includes a comprehensive service package for hardware and software maintenance as well as very short reaction times.
Mühlbauer was in the position to manage this project in a highly professional way. Within a few weeks after the official selection all systems were defined, build-up, delivered and installed.
