The Daily Screen: Truepress Jet520 Prints International Newspapers with Fresh Content
Wednesday 09. July 2008 - Local manufacture of international editions to serve newspaper readers in foreign locations has always been the alternative to air-freighting newspapers from their domestic production sites.
Unfortunately for both publishers and readers, local production has inherent limitations and prohibitive costs. Until now.
Thanks to the Truepress Jet520 On Demand Newsprint Solution, publishers can maintain brand loyalty by ensuring “same-day” availability all over the world.
Each day of Drupa, visitors to the Screen booth were treated to the latest editions of six world-class newspapers hot off the press. Using up-to-the-minute publication data transmitted via networks and processed with the Newsworker workflow application, the Truepress Jet520 roll-fed, variable data printer scored an industry first the demonstration of live newspaper inkjet printing. Available to readers were printed copies of USA Today, Daily Mail (United Kingdom), Le Monde (France), Handelsblatt (Germany), El Pais (Spain), DonGailBo (South Korea) and Asahi Shimbun (Japan).
A Standard Hunkeler Gen6 paper-handling system finished the papers inline. When it was not turning out newspapers, the Truepress Jet520 printed different print-on-demand products.
